Nabon Women’s Synod College, a College meant exclusively for women, was sponsored by the Khasi Jaintia Presbyterian Synod Sepngi as a project in the field of higher education. In fact, the College is named after the first Khasi lady, Nabon Kharsawian (from Sohra), to pioneer education in Khasi Hills. The College was set up on the 1^st August 1996 when it was granted the necessary permission from the Directorate of Public Instruction of the State. It was registered under the Societies Registration Act XII of 1983 on the 11^th March 1998 and was subsequently affiliated to the North Eastern Hill University in the year 1998, and Permanent Affiliation was granted in the year 2009. In the year 2014, the name of the College was changed from Nabon Synod College to Nabon Women’s Synod College
